The About us page of TheTop10.uk helps UK readers compare credit cards, savings accounts, loans, and banking, in plain English.

Choosing a financial product can feel confusing, with rates, fees, and small print that are hard to compare. I started TheTop10.uk to put the key details side by side, so you can see the differences quickly and decide what suits you.

Who runs this site?

TheTop10.uk is run by a research team at TheTop10.uk and an independent writer based in the UK. We started this site because we found comparing savings accounts frustrating. We are not a financial adviser.

How we create our lists?

Each Top 10 list is based on research into publicly available information, mainly the providers’ own websites and published terms. For each product type, we compare things like

  • Interest rates, APR or AER
  • Fees and charges
  • Key features and eligibility
  • Ease of use and customer access
  • Overall value

The criteria for each list are explained in the article itself.

How the site is funded?

This site is free to read. Some links are affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you apply for or buy something through them, at no extra cost to you. The commission does not decide how products are ranked. Read the full Advertising Disclosure.

Accuracy and updates

Rates and offers change often, so each article shows a “last updated” date. I do my best to keep information correct, but please always check the provider’s own website for current terms before you apply. If you spot a mistake, email me at contact@thetop10.uk and I’ll look into it.

Important

The content here is general information, not financial advice, and it doesn’t take your personal circumstances into account. TheTop10.uk is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and is not a lender or broker. If you need advice, speak to a regulated financial adviser.

What I changed and why

  • Narrowed the focus to finance. The old text said you cover technology, transport and lifestyle, but your whole site is finance. A focused site looks more trustworthy.
  • Added a real person. Google expects finance sites to show who is behind them. This is the biggest improvement.
  • Removed claims you may not be meeting, such as “regularly reviewed” and “user feedback”. Say only what you really do.
  • Cut filler like “Thus”, “Hence” and “you will grasp a better idea of what to do and what not to do”.
  • Fixed small errors: “the top 10” is now TheTop10.uk, “organize” and “prioritize” use UK spelling, and the link now points to the right site.
  • Added the funding and not-advice sections, linking to the Advertising Disclosure page you’re creating.
